This review is for Blackwood Bounty Kitten Food Made in USA Slow Cooked Kitten Dry Food [Natural Kitten Food with Superfood Ingredients for Food Sensitivities and Immune Health], Chicken and Herring Recipe (3 lb. bag, Brown)Blackwood Bounty Kitten Food Made in USA Slow Cooked Kitten Dry Food [Natural Kitten Food with Superfood Ingredients for Food Sensitivities and I… It’s a great product and I’ve already switched my cats to this. They absolutely love it. They have it licked up quickly. Awesome product!.The first test of kitten food for me is whether the kittens will eat it. It doesn't matter if the ingredients are excellent if they don't like it. I was a little worried at first because they walked up to the bowl, smelled it and walked away (I think that might have been the herring smell). But that was just a first reaction and they chomp it down heartily now.The ingredients are really good. It is grain, soy & preservative free with 43% protein. I also really appreciate that it is made in the United States. I am trying to buy more things made in the US and when it comes to cat food, that is particularly important.Another important factor -- especially for young kittens -- is the kibble size. The kibble bits are small and round so they are easy to eat for smaller kittens. Mine are bigger now so it doesn't matter as much, but it's a consideration when they are young. This dry food is not cheap but I would get it again.Munch munch munch. They like it and seem to really enjoy eating this. That makes me happy. And no tummy issues..The first ingredient is chicken but the pellets smell of fish right out if the bag. I didn’t find the scent bothersome after filling the dish. We only have one kitten and 2 other cats. All ate the food okay but when I mixed this with their current food, they seemed to pick around this kibble. The pellets are really small and seem harder than the other food so I don’t really know why. They do eat this too though. It is possible only one or two of the cats pick around the kibble but I’ve not noticed this with other foods. The food is clearly made with healthy ingredients but it’s a little disheartening to know my fur balls don’t seem to love the taste. Our dog has eaten a lot of Blackwood's wet dog food and we've liked it because it didn't give her diarrhea and the ingredients are pretty good. This kitten food is no different. Cats are obligate carnivores, they strictly only eat meat. So obviously it's important that the majority of their diet is meat. My only complaint in the list is that they use lentils and field peas, simply because it's a known filler and there is some debate about whether or not it causes heart issues in cats. Still until there's more concrete evidence, I'm not worrying about it (my 10 year old cat has been fed on a similar food all her life and is still going strong). This food does smell very strongly of fish so if that bother you, heads up. But I think cats will go crazy for the food.Great kitty food - our cats of all ages love it! The food is very small orbs, making it easier for the smaller kitten to eat it. (It kind of looks like tiny deer droppings.)The ingredients are impressive in that they're all high quality and things that cats will both enjoy, and easily digest. That is, this isn't your cheap-o cat food filled up with grains that cats can't actually digest or do anything with. This stuff is how cat food is supposed to be!Overall, this is a great cat food that my cats of all ages enjoy - it is a bit expensive, but you're paying for premium quality ingredients, which may be worth it for your kittens! This is a premium, made and sourced in the USA pet food, with an admirable ingredient list that's high fat and high protein to help growing kittens. It says it's good for immune health and for cats with food sensitivities, but what it's not good for is pet parent's with sensitive noses. The second ingredient here is dried herring and it smells like, well, dried herring. You can smell it from several rooms away, so it's not ideal for leaving out for cats to graze, which is what we usually use kibble for, even with our foster babies. (Wet food morning and night, kibble out all day.) Kittens had a mixed reaction to it, one loved, while others two seemed to eat around it, though it might just be the newness. (Served mixed into the kibble they are used to.)This is an outstanding kitten food. They love the flavor and the smell, and it seems to sit well with them. With this food we've had no issues with any of the cats getting sick after eating.
